Kidder legal information
Kidder Parent App Privacy Notice
This notice is limited to the Kidder Parent App for adult Parents or guardians. It does not describe Child App permissions as if they existed in the Parent App.
Document contents
1. Parent App role
The Parent App is intended for Parents and guardians who are 18 or older. It lets a Parent create and secure an account, manage Child profiles and connected devices, configure family settings, and review information made available through Kidder. Children are not expected to operate the Parent App as the family account holder.
2. Parent information processed
- Name, email address or phone number depending on sign-in method, country setting, and account reference.
- Firebase, Google, Kidder, installation, session, and authentication identifiers.
- Password or Parent PIN authentication information.
- Optional Parent profile photo.
- Notification token and push-delivery information.
- Device model, platform, app version, session IP address, user agent, and security events.
- Selected language, appearance, Child, and device preferences.
3. Child and family information displayed
The Parent App receives this information through Kidder’s services; it does not directly use the child device’s sensitive Android permissions.
- Child profile and optional profile photo.
- Child-device location, Safe Places, visits, journeys, and freshness status.
- Installed apps, app usage, Screen Time, rules, routines, and schedules.
- Internet Safety settings, blocked-domain events, and web-safety summaries.
- Derived Content Safety classifications and alerts—not raw visible screen text.
- Device protection, permission, battery, network, connection, and sync status.
4. Access the Parent App does not use
The Parent App requests Internet and notification permissions. It does not request or use the following child-device capabilities.
- Parent-device precise or coarse location.
- Android Accessibility Service.
- VPN Service.
- UsageStats or package-usage access.
- Device Admin.
- Microphone recording.
- SMS, call logs, phone calls, or contacts.
- Broad file or media-library permissions.
5. Photos and notifications
A Parent may optionally select or capture a profile image through Android’s system picker or an external camera flow. The selected Parent or Child profile photo is uploaded to Kidder. The Parent App does not request broad photo-library or camera permission.
If notifications are allowed, the Parent App registers a Firebase Cloud Messaging token with Kidder to receive family, device, security, or service updates. Notification permission can be denied through Android settings, although this may reduce timely alerts.
6. Maps and geocoding
The Parent App can display Child-device coordinates on Google Maps and can use geocoding to obtain readable place labels. These operations may make Child coordinates available to Google or the device’s geocoding provider. Exact production provider roles and retention require confirmation.
Displaying a Child location does not require or activate collection of the Parent phone’s location.
7. Storage, security, and providers
The Parent App stores an authentication token in encrypted preferences and keeps limited account, preference, entitlement, push, and selected-child state locally. It communicates with Kidder over release HTTPS. Firebase, Google Identity, Maps, geocoding, hosting, database, and file-storage provider classifications remain to be confirmed.
8. Choices and deletion
Parents can update profile information, remove profile photos, manage sessions, unlink Child devices, and delete eligible Child profiles through available account controls. Complete Parent account deletion is not currently presented as a verified live capability.
The Data Deletion page explains the intended deletion scope, information that may need limited retention, and the current request-channel limitations.
